1. Can you tell us about your journey as a photographer? What inspired you to pursue a career in this field?
“My journey as a photographer started from a deep fascination with visual storytelling. I’ve always been captivated by how a single image can capture emotion, time, and narrative. Initially, I was drawn to art in general, and photography felt like a natural extension of that. I pursued a career in photography because it allows me to explore both the technical and artistic sides of creation—how light, composition, and mood can come together to tell a story.”
2. In your experience, how important is teamwork in the creative process? Can you describe how you collaborate with other professionals on various projects?
“Teamwork is absolutely essential in creative work. Photography is not a solitary endeavor, especially in fashion. From stylists to makeup artists, creative directors, and models, everyone brings their unique expertise and vision to the table. My role is to coordinate all those ideas, ensuring that we all work towards a shared goal. I always try to make sure everyone feels heard and valued, and together we create a cohesive vision. Clear communication and mutual respect are key to making a shoot flow smoothly.”
3. Can you tell us about this photo shoot?
“This photo shoot, like many others that we do with Oksana, is a combination of elegance and simplicity in which we show our vision of modern fashion and female beauty. I think we are a perfect team; it is very difficult to find a person who supports all my creative ideas, and in the end, it works better than you expect.”
4. When working with models, what do you think is the key to establishing a successful rapport? How do you help them feel comfortable and confident during a shoot?
“The key to a successful rapport with models is trust. I make an effort to connect with them before the shoot, learning about their preferences and personalities. I believe that open communication and a relaxed atmosphere are vital for helping models feel confident. I encourage them to express themselves and experiment with different poses and expressions. I also make sure to give positive reinforcement, which helps them feel more at ease and confident in front of the camera.”
5. Fashion photography often involves working closely with brands. How do you approach creating a visual story that aligns with a brand’s identity and vision?
“When working with a brand, my goal is to understand its core values and aesthetic. I ask a lot of questions about the brand’s history, target audience, and the message they want to convey. From there, I build a visual story that stays true to the brand’s identity, whether it’s sleek and modern or more nostalgic and timeless. It’s important to stay authentic to the brand’s ethos while also bringing my own creative perspective to the shoot.”

“Creating makeup for magazine covers is both an honor and a challenge. A cover look must tell a story, capture the reader’s attention, and align with the magazine’s aesthetic. I consider the overall theme of the shoot, the model’s features, and how the makeup will translate through the camera lens. Every detail matters—texture, balance, and how the makeup interacts with lighting. It’s about creating a timeless image that stands out on a global scale.”
2. You’ve had the opportunity to work at Fashion Week in Paris. How did that experience shape your approach to makeup artistry, and what were some of your favorite moments from the event?
“Paris Fashion Week was transformative. It taught me to work under intense pressure while staying creative. You’re constantly balancing speed with precision, collaborating with designers and teams to bring their vision to life. My favorite moments were seeing my work on models as they stepped onto the runway—it’s magical knowing you’re part of such an iconic event. It also pushed me to refine my techniques, always ensuring my work meets the highest standards.”
5. As you prepare to open your own studio in Chicago, what services or experiences are you most excited to offer your clients?
“I’m thrilled to create a space where clients can experience a full spectrum of beauty services under one roof. In addition to natural-looking permanent makeup, tailored brow shaping, and bridal and event makeup, we will also offer professional nail services. This means clients can enjoy a luxurious, time-saving experience, getting multiple services done in one visit. For the fast-paced rhythm of Chicago, this will be a game-changer—a place where beauty meets convenience without compromising on quality. It’s all about making my clients’ lives easier while helping them look and feel their best.”
